ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Dr. Ali Kiani earned his Ph.D. in Theatre Arts and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in non-Western theatre and drama at UCLA. His career encompasses creative and academic contributions to theatre, film, and the humanities. Dr. Kiani is a recipient of UCLA’s Harry Kurnitz Creative Writing Award and has been a dedicated educator in theatre and humanities at California State University and Los Angeles Community College since 1990. He’s a member of the Dramatists Guild.
About the Founder
Ali Kiani earned his Ph.D. in Theatre Arts and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA. His career spans creative and academic contributions to theatre, film, and the humanities. Kiani's published works, including The Evolution of Theatre and Drama in the Middle East and North Africa (Rowman & Littlefield, 2024) and An Anthology of Non-Western Drama (Whittier Press, 1993), have significantly enriched the study of Asian, African, and Middle Eastern theatre. His anthology Around the World in Seven Acts was performed at the California International Theatre Festival in 2011. In film, Kiani produced and directed the feature A Dull House (2005) and wrote the documentaries Are You Safe and Inside Out/Upside Down, produced in Los Angeles and New York, respectively.
